About Costa Rica Treatment Center Riverside
Costa Rica Treatment Center (CRTC) Riverside provides various levels of comprehensive dual diagnosis care in stunning Costa Rica. They have a unique 4-phased approach to healing: stabilization and planning, intensive treatment, transferring responsibility, and reintegration. With this approach, CRTC guides clients through recovery with hands-on support, even as they help clients take accountability for their progress and apply coping skills to their daily lives.
CRTC offers 30, 60, 90 and 120-day residential programs. They provide medical detox as needed and structured sober living if clients choose to stay in Costa Rica. CRTC has an intensive outpatient program for Costa Rican residents, as well. In addition to treating various substance addictions, they can treat mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. CRTC offers English and Spanish-based services.
During recovery, clients work closely with a team of accredited staff, including physicians, psychologists, and recovery specialists. Clients participate in individual, group, and family therapy. CRTC offers cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), spiritual counseling, 12-Step meetings, and relapse prevention. CRTC aims to heal the mind, body and spirit, and provides holistic therapies. These include yoga, guided meditation, art therapy, and forest therapy, which involves a slow, gentle walk through the forest and ceremony with a nature guide.
CRTC Riverside provides an escape from daily life in the Atenas Mountains, perfect for healing in the natural world. This residence offers shared or private bedrooms, an outdoor pool, plenty of green outdoor space, and stunning views. CRTC Riverside provides weekly offsite adventures, including whitewater rafting, trail hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, beach trips, and movies. Onsite activities include sound therapy, birdwatching, and gardening. Group activities and outings help clients connect to each other and practice sobriety in a real-world setting.

CRTC aspires to walk alongside their clients every step of their journey. They provide detox services to help clients safely and comfortably detox from substances before starting intensive treatment. Their residential program lasts 30, 60, 90, or 120 days, depending on each client’s needs and goals. If clients are Costa Rica residents, they can participate in their intensive outpatient program (IOP) and stay in structured sober living homes overseen by CRTC staff. Staff will help international clients find local outpatient programs after completing their residential program.
CRTC prides themselves on offering diverse excursions and activities. Focused on adventure therapy, clients engage in organic farming, fishing, beach days, museum trips, a coffee plantation tour, horseback riding, and jungle hiking. During these activities, clients can apply skills they’re learning in therapy and participate in fun, sober activities.
CRTC’s professional staff collaborate to provide effective and long-lasting care. Licensed physicians provide comprehensive medical care to keep clients safe throughout the recovery process. Trained psychiatrists and psychologists help clients learn healthy coping skills and let go of the negative habits and thought processes contributing to their addiction and co-occurring disorders. CRTC also has yoga instructors, a forest therapist, and a sound therapist on staff.
CRTC strives to incorporate the natural world into the recovery process. At their Riverside location, they use their lush surroundings and bring therapy outdoors. Clients engage in horticulture therapy, outdoor meditation and mindfulness, along with other activities. Weekly outings and adventures provide sober fun and allow clients to practice the skills they’ve learned in the outside world. Clients can also interact, connect, and bond with each other.
