I have struggled with alcoholism for almost half of my life. When I committed to a 90 day stay at Maui Recovery, my relationships were crumbling, I was unable to keep up with work or my scholastic career, and I had lost my will to live.Something magical happened as I immersed myself in MR’s program. With amazing therapists, I was able to work through traumas which had stunted my emotional growth. In group sessions, I learned coping skills which I had never developed. Through nature immersion therapy, I found myself feeling connected to something greater than myself. A month into my treatment, I realized that I was only going to get back as much as I put in. I took advantage of the numerous meeting options that surrounded the campus. I made my time at the facility as transformational as possible by being present & open minded. The behaviors & attitudes that had hindered me in the past began to morph as I put in the work to literally change my life. The 90 days I spent in MR laid the foundation for what I will continue to build for the rest of my life. In two weeks, I will be celebrating a year of sobriety. This would have been possible without the community &holistic healing that MR offers. I truly believe that someone needs to be ready to recover for treatment to be effective, and I thank the MR team for guiding me until I was ready to undergo my metamorphosis. When I learned to let go, I learned a new way to live. And more importantly, I’ve found a life worth living.

The staff and and experience at Maui Recovery was one that changed my life for the better. The grounds at Maui Recovery are tranquil and beautiful. The staff at Maui Recovery made me feel comfortable and safe the moment I got there. From the various types of therapies, surf therapy, yoga, music and breathing sessions to the relationships I built with the other clients, it all contributed to my healing. I will forever be grateful to the staff at Maui Recovery for setting me off on the right path.

Maui Recovery literally saved my life. If you're ready to get better and are willing to put in the work, look no further. Who knew rehab could be such an enjoyable experience??There are a number of things that make MR different and stand out from most other places. Like any good rehab, they help you through detox and teach you new coping skills. Like any quality co-current diagnosis rehab, their incredible therapists help you understand and address the trauma behind your addiction (I've been in therapy most of my life and swear I had more insights in the first 10 days there than in the last 10 years.) And unlike any other rehab I found, they also reconnect you with the reasons life is worth living, and the other ways to enjoy and have thrills in life. The surfing, hiking, snorkeling, etc adventures reconnected me with reasons not to numb out, and ways to thrive instead of just survive. I entered MR knowing I didn't have much longer to live. I left with a completely new life, outlook, and hope. Before I got there, I heard that multiple staff members are former clients, and that they have weekly alumni gatherings. I thought, "Dang, who would want to hang around their rehab?!" but as soon as I arrived, was like "Oooooh. Ok yeah. I get it." The family feel, the above and beyond personal care -- the staff truly care about you and go out of their way to show it time and time again. It all adds up to something completely different than you'll find most other places.
